Vindafjord council is located in Rogaland county between Haugesund and Sauda. Vindafjord council border on Tysvær, Ølen, Etne og Suldal.

History
Vindafjord council was official established 01.01.1965 by throwing together and by adjusting the borders between 5 former councils. The greater part of Imsland and Vikedal, the whole Sandeid and Vats and about the half of Skjold council became Vindafjord (kommune) council.
The council administration is located to Sandeid with about 1000 inhabitants. The whole Vindafjord council has 4874 inhabitants.

Economic life
Vindafjord is an agriculture council with small farms. Dairy farming and meat production (grate-cattle, pigs and sheep) is the most important besides some forestry.
Here is different trades: electronic, slaughterhouse, dairy, bakehouse, garage and car dump and several building and construction work.
The deep fjords form the basis of a considerable fish farming. In addition there has been a great activity by building and constructing oilrigs. Among others the oilrigs "Gullfaks B", "Gullfaks C" and "Troll" was built here.
The administration of Vindafjord council is the greatest employer in the council.

Culture and environment of adolescence
Approximately 80 active voluntary unions and associations organise and operate the most culture- and leisure activities.
Here is indoor swimming pool, car racing track, establishment for cross-country skiing with illumination, football grounds, rifle ranges etc. In addition you will find country museum, 5 churches, 7 schools, and a lot of community centres and chapels. Vindafjord has no sixth forms of comprehensive school.
